Aafke Goetheer

My name is Aafke Goetheer, 22 years young and currently in the final year of the Hotel Management School in Maastricht, the Netherlands. My passion for the hospitality industry was born at a young age and my biggest career dream is to open my own hotel one day. Over the past couple of years, I have worked hard and always challenged myself to learn more about the world of hospitality. After having worked and lived in Melbourne Australia for half a year, a new challenge crossed my path. With limited knowledge about sustainability, I participated in the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge. For me, it is undeniable that the hospitality industry should set a new standard for the sustainable future of 2050. It is hard to put into words how much I have learned during this challenge.

Our Waterproof Building does not only address the problem of water scarcity which the world is currently facing, but also fits the purpose economy refreshingly. Together with three amazing partnerships, we have been able to reach the finals of the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge with a building that is completely ready, from top to bottom, for the future of 2050!
