Abdulbasit Al Hai has been with wasl Asset Management since its formation in 2007 and was a member of the Dubai Coast Real Estate Investment Co team, one of the entities merged to create wasl. As the General Manager of wasl hospitality, Mr Al Hai is responsible for driving wasl’s portfolio of 14 hotels and over 5,000 rooms in line with the company’s strategic objectives. This includes monitoring hotel performance, identifying opportunities for cross-fertilisation, and assessing opportunities for development within the operating assets.
Prior to Mr Al Hai’s promotion, he held the position of Senior Manager of Operations, where he was in charge of the daily monitoring and analysis of the performance of various assets in his portfolio, ensuring maximum returns on investment for all administered properties.
Mr Al Hai’s experience in the hospitality industry started before joining wasl. He previously worked on the Grand Hyatt Dubai project where he was a member of the pre-opening procurement team, and prior to that, he was Head of Sector in the Financial Audit Department within Dubai Government.
Mr Al Hai holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics from the College of Social Sciences, Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Max M. Fisher College of Business, Ohio State University.
